hacking in progress

"hacking in progress" 1997 was a 3 days hacker convention on a camping site near amsterdam. there met about 1500 people from around the world. they brought with them their tents and computers to connect them to a temporarily network - though the social networking was surely the most important!

main organizers: maurice wessling and rop gonggrijp. and many, many, many others did very important things.

corinne petrus:
"you always have the feeling in each tent there can happening something you'd like to see."

maurice wessling:
"hip is a place where we want people to come together to network themselves, not only in a technical sense, but also in a social sense.

we'd like to show people the social and technical problems concerning the internet - show them, that the technical and the political thing are the both sides of the same coin."
